Color Me Kiki is on hiatus!

Unfortunately, with the new semester starting I am just overwhelmed with work and activities, and I don’t ever want blogging to become a chore or something I feel guilty for not doing. Blogging is and should be fun! So I will be taking a break for the next couple weeks. In the meantime, please leave your links on this post so I can stop by and check them out when I’m back! I hope you all have an amazing Valentine’s Day! For news and to stay in touch, keep up with me on social media, I’d love to check your blogs out from there too!

My New Year’s Resolutions

Hey guys!

As my last post of 2015, I want to share with you my New Year’s resolutions. But first, I want to thank you.

Thank you to every single person who has taken the time to visit my blog, comment on a post, leave a like, or subscribe. Thank you for the sweet comments and for helping me out via Twitter when I struggle with WordPress. Thank you for the inspiration from your blogs, and thank you so much for letting me be part of this amazing blogging community. I’ve only been blogging for 9 months, and it’s my favorite thing. So a big thank you to each and every one of you!

So, without further ado, here are my resolutions for 2016 🙂

HALDEN

Step out of my comfort zone. Say yes! I’m making a rule for myself to say yes to one new experience a week in 2016. People grow due to their experiences, and I’m always excited to try new things. But, I don’t want to stretch myself too thin, so I’ll pick and choose my priorities more carefully as well.

Grow my blog. I love being creative and interacting with all of you in my little online space, and I can’t wait to make my content even better and grow my readership. Side note: I also plan to rewrite those embarrassing first posts haha!

Improve my photography. I love taking pictures, and I want to get myself some new equipment and really see what I can do this next year. There’s always something to learn!

Let go of my need to always be right. I believe that to be happy, we need to not stress the small stuff. Learning to go with the flow sometimes could help me relax more 🙂

Spend less time online. I spend a ton of time online, either blogging, doing homework, or endlessly scrolling through social media. I need to unplug a little more and do more real-life projects!

And of course, travel more! I have a couple really exciting adventures coming up in the new year, and I can’t wait to share them with you all 🙂

What are your resolutions for the New Year? I’d love to hear about the exciting things you’ll all be doing. Let me know in the comments, and as always, thanks for stopping by 🙂

What’s In My November Ipsy Bag?

This month’s Ipsy bag was a big improvement over the last one! If you happened to read last month’s review, you may remember that my bag was almost entirely skincare products. I’m much happier with this one! I received some products that I can’t wait to test out.

Starting off is the product I’m least excited for, simply because I almost never use hairspray. My hair is too short for updos, and I hardly ever curl it. However, I’m sure it’ll come in handy eventually, since it’s a travel sized sample. Find it here!

When I saw this Absolute New York Nano Eyeliner I kinda of freaked out a little, because a) the packaging is super pretty, and b) because I’ve been wanting an eyeliner with an extra fine tip for a while, so thanks Ipsy for reading my mind! This super fine felt tip makes it really easy to get a great flick. I can’t wait to use it in a holiday makeup look! When I was swatching it, I realized that it dries almost instantly as well. Hopefully this will translate to being smudge-proof on the eyes.

I love eyeshadow crayons, so I can’t wait to test out this Beaute Basics Eye Crayon in Sahara Gold. I can definitely see this paired with the eyeliner for a Christmas party look! It’s also an easy product to just throw in your purse for touchups on those busy days, since it’s a light shimmery gold that would work just by itself as well.

I also received an eyeshadow brush this month, which I found exciting since I had never received any tools from Ipsy before. The Deluxe Pointed Crease brush from Crown Brushes seems to be very soft! As for its other qualities, I’ll be sure to let you know once I test it out.

novipsy6

Last but not least- Smashbox’s Full Exposure Mascara! I wish this wasn’t just a sample size, because I’m sure I’m going to use it up quickly! I received the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer in a previous box and absolutely loved it, so I hope that this product will be just as awesome! The brush seems rather large to apply mascara to lower lashes however. Find it here!

Overall, I’m very happy with this month’s bag! I received a much better mix of products than last month, in my opinion. If you’d like to sign up for Ipsy, you can do so here.

What do you think? Do you subscribe to any monthly services? Have you tried any of these products out? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

Poppies and Peter Pan Collars

Surprisingly, I’m enjoying some of the new updates to WordPress. The option to display photos in different ways is actually useful! What do you think of today’s all-circles layout? However, I’m not a huge fan of some of their other changes to their formats. More on that in a later post, though!

Anyway, today’s OOTD features one of my latest favorite items! I found this red dress at one of my local thrift stores for just $8, and it fits perfectly! It features a peter pan collar and an allover red, white, and grey poppy print. I can’t stop wearing it lately!

Back in middle school and the beginnings of high school I was obsessed with wearing just all black and concert tee shirts…*shudders*! If me at 18 had met me at 14, I’m sure I would have told me I needed a serious style makeover! However sometimes it’s hard to keep away from what used to be your default way of dressing…I saw this dress and thought that a grungy/indie vibe was just what it needed. I grabbed my trusty black Converse and some black knit knee socks, and of course a beanie, and voila! I had to grab a nice dark lipstick too of course. I kept the rest of my makeup neutral except for defining my eyebrows.

Dress: Thrifted, Knee Socks: Payless, Sneakers: Converse, Beanie: Forever21, Lipstick: Milani in Cabaret Blend.

It can be super hard to avoid your style roots, but overall I really like how this turned out! What do you think? Do you ever revert to what you style used to be? What do you think of the changes to WordPress? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for stopping by!

I’ve been featured!

If any of you follow CollegeFashion, a huge blog that’s been around for years, you may be familiar with its feature Looks On Campus! The on-campus students that write for CollegeFashion look around their campuses and find students wearing outfits that they like, and then ask them to model for a post. Last week I was stopped by an on-campus writer, and she asked if I would be willing to be featured! As an avid reader of the blog, of course I said yes-right after i stopped freaking out!! The post turned out pretty well-check it out at CollegeFashion!

Do you read CollegeFashion? What do you think about my feature? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for stopping by!
